A tackling machine that can maintain the interior gaps on the defense. After suffering a season ending injury in 2016, Sam bounced back in his Junior year, becoming one of the nation’s best tacklers. Can diagnose a play quickly and even though instinctual, will be patient and wait for the ball carrier to commit. Plays with speed and tackles with solid technique, wrapping up well. Solid in coverage, and has been able to show skills in covering both tight ends and smaller backs.
