DraftGeek’s Mock Draft
School: Ohio State Position: Cornerback Class: Junior Height: 5-10 Weight: 192 lbs Projected Draft Round: 1
**DECLARED**
Scouting Report:
Experienced and intelligent defensive back that is a natural leader. Extremely fast, won’t be outrun by receivers, and with a small frame has excellent agility. Ward has elite cover skills, locating the ball quickly and able to break up contested passes. Is undersized, and will have trouble covering bigger receivers, and holding up in the run game. His coverage skills are exceptional, however, and will find a place in the right defensive scheme that will know how to limit any liability of his small build.
Ohio State Corner Denzel Ward will have difficulty covering WR’s like Bucs’ Mike Evans, especially with Evans’ ability to out position, and out muscle Corners for the ball. Evans is also a master at using his strong hands to push Corners away from making a play to intercept or deflect the ball.
